Pickard's Mountain

Pickoretum was formed by a 2015 land transfer which consolidated the Charles R. Keith Arboretum with adjacent woodlands in the “Pickard’s Mountain” community near Chapel Hill, totaling just over 200 acres. The 20 acre arboretum site hosts one of the largest plant collections of temperate woody species in North America, containing approximately 4000 labeled species. The balance of this property is wooded with a variety of piedmont hardwood and pine forest situated on a rolling landscape with seemingly endless opportunities to explore and learn.  Test your endurance with a timed hike through rolling forest trails, or venture off-trail to find spring-fed streams and soak in the serenity of an undisturbed Piedmont woodlandYour options are broad at the Pickoretum.
