Join Kim Jordan and the Deep Nature Poets to stroll through a 20 acre private arboretum just outside of Chapel Hill. We will start our experience at a sweet lily pond and then make our way around the incredible assortment of trees, taking time to hug the largest redwood on the East Coast. We will then settle down under a 100 year old magnolia for our meditation.
We will sit in silence for 10 minutes with eyes closed and 10 with eyes open, then we will engage in present moment awareness poetry for 10 minutes more. Time will be marked by a Tibetan singing bowl. At the sound of the last bell, we will gather in a circle to share our poetry or other musings. (The sharing is totally optional, so there will be no pressure to read!)
Please try to arrive before 10:30 so that we can leave on time. We should be finished with our silent experience by noon, but those who wish to can stay and picnic on the screened in porch of a beautiful, old home on the grounds. You will be completely charmed by it's unique, hand-crafted build and Victorian parlor!
